Agriculture - Introduction


JOINT WORKING GROUP (JWG) ON AGRICULTURE

IBSA Joint Working Group (JWG) on Agriculture was formed to build on the existing capabilities of IBSA countries in the agriculture sector and tap their synergies in the wake of shared concerns relating to trade and food safety aspects in this sector. It seeks to examine the status, past trends and the factors underlying growth of agriculture to identify possible future opportunities and innovations in IBSA countries.


JWG on Agriculture has had several meetings and a number of initiatives have been taken to enhance cooperation among IBSA countries. The last meeting of IBSA JWG on Agriculture was held in New Delhi on 10th May 2013.


The following sub-groups have been formed with each country holding the responsibility to organise meetings of sub groups allotted –


Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary issues (South Africa);
Agro-processing and Agri-Business (South Africa);
Research and Training/Capacity building (India);
Public policy (India);
Animal Production and Animal Development (Brazil);
