JOINT WORKING GROUP (JWG) ON EDUCATION
IBSA identified education as a powerful instrument for achieving the goals of social equality and inclusion. An IBSA Joint Working Group (JWG) on Education
was formed to further these goals. The first meeting of JWG on Education was held in New Delhi on 3 March 2004. Last meeting of JWG on Education was held
in Kwazulu–Natal, South Africa on 13 October 2011.
The key themes of cooperation under JWG on Education are –
Three broad areas of cooperation have been identified - open and distance education, higher and professional education and universal mass education
Sub-sectors under education have been identified - Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Biotechnology, Sustainable Development, Social
Transformation, Empowerment and Higher Education Studies

IPR & WIPO related issues
A Trilateral MoU on cooperation in the field of Higher Education was signed in Pretoria on 17 October 2007 during the second IBSA Summit.
