Resolution of IV IBSA Women's Forum, 2011

Given the women's forum deliberations on the impact of climate change food security and female voices of the next generation and other issues affecting women, the IV IBSA women's forum makes the following recommendations:

1. To establish an IBSA Women's Working Group and secretariat to give focused attention to women's issues

2. To create a platform within IBSA for civil society and the voices of young women

3. To Ensure that young women are part or the existing women's forum and Memorandums of Understanding (MOU)

4. Engender the existing IBSA Working Groups

5. To have direct representation of the Women's Forum in the IBSA Fund Project Approval Committee (on a rotational basis} such that they are part of the review of project proposals to ensure emphasis on women, children and women with disabilities

6. The Women's Working Group to have oversight role on the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) IBSA Fund project

7. IBSA member states to ensure time-bound development of Gender Sensitive Indicators to measure the impact of projects funded under the IBSA Fund

8. Explore ring fenced funds for IBSA member countries namely: African Rural poor and women living in Mikhukhus (informal settlements), women from Quilombos and Dalit/Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/all Poor and Vulnerable Women from India

9. Review the gendered impact of IBSA Projects

10. A part of IBSA Trust Fund must be set aside for women development projects using the following guiding criteria:

a. Peace and Security;

b. Women empowerment;

c. Poverty and hunger alleviation; and

d. Environmentally sustainable

Members further endorsed recommendations made by the IBSA Ministers.
